Recently, I ventured down to Warwick, RI to explore the second largest city in the Ocean State. As I sat in local diner to eat breakfast, I took a few moments to do some research.
That place is old, I mean, historic. It was founded in 1642. It is also known as a place where 'a significant prelude to the American Revolution' happened. As a matter of reference, in 1772, it was the place of the first 'violent act against the British Crown',and kind of started that war.
It is also the home of some famous people like James Woods, who grew up there and attended Pilgrim High School. Which is kind of interesting since the state is full of Democrats, through and through, and has been that way for the past three decades.
I headed to the library. That was my ultimate destination. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a fantastic library system and the Warwick Public Library is quite the treasure. Fun fact: I can use my Providence Public Library card at all of the public library's in the state! I ventured to this particular branch because they offer a free music series and on the day of my visit, Hiroya Tsukamoto, a composer/guitarist from Japan (who now lives in the US) was schedule to perform. I had never hear of him nor his music and I really liked it. He shared several stories as back drops to the songs he shared with us.
I left the library as a new fan of Hiroya's music and with a bag load of books, including one on how to write a self-help book. I'll keep you posted on that effort!
